The Will Levis Era is OVER!!!! How will the Titans address the QB position?
The Tennessee Titans suffered another embarrassing loss on Sunday, this time falling to the Cincinnati Bengals by a score of 37-27 in Week 15. Tennessee is now 3-11 on the year and is just one loss away from exceeding their 2023 loss total.
A lot went wrong for the Titans on Sunday, but quarterback Will Levis completely imploded versus the Bengals. The 2023 second-round pick tossed three interceptions and committed four total turnovers. Levis has shown some signs of growth since returning from a shoulder injury in Week 10, but the 25-year-old clearly isn't capable of being a franchise quarterback, and Tennessee must move on in the offseason. It seems it’s headed that way, as the Titans benched Levis on Tuesday and will move forward without the second year pro as their starting signal caller, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Though the Titans suck, the franchise likely won't land a top-two selection in the 2025 NFL Draft to select one of the best quarterbacks. Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and Miami's Cam Ward are the two best signal callers in April’s draft, but Tennessee will need the New York Giants and Las Vegas Raiders to win a game or two in order to move into a position to select either Sanders or Ward. Unfortunately, the Giants also suck at football and suffered a 35-14 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday in Week 15. The Raiders play the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night, so we should all hope for a Kirk Cousins disasterclass and a Las Vegas win. Tennessee currently sits at Pick 6 after all of the Week 15 action, per Tankathon
Let’s hope that the Titans can land one of the top two selections in April's draft, but if they can't, finding a quarterback will be challenging. The free agent class is uninspiring, as Sam Darnold and Russell Wilson are the top two options. Darnold will demand a lucrative contract ($100 million+), and Wilson will likely re-sign with the Steelers. That leaves the Titans with Justin Fields, Jameis Winston, and Joe Flacco as the other free-agent QB options. Fields is the most intriguing option out of the three second-tier candidates, as the former first-round posted a 4-2 record this year and has shown signs of growth with Pittsburgh.
Overall, the Titans are going to be in a tough spot when it comes to addressing the quarterback situation if they can’t land Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward. The free-agent QB class isn’t great, and there isn’t a strong QB3 in the 2025 class. But bringing Levis back as the starter in 2025 isn’t the answer either. This offseason is going to be really interesting in Tennessee, and I have NO IDEA what they are going to do.
