It’s Obvious who the Titans should Draft in ROund 1 of the 2025 NFL Draft!
It all begins with an idea.
The Tennessee Titans have been awful this season, as Brian Callahan’s squad is 3-12 and are one of the worst teams in the NFL. Tennessee has lost EIGHT GAMES by double-digit points in 2024 and suffered a 38-30 defeat to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 16 (don’t let the score fool you, lol).
With the Titans season over, the team will look ahead to a complicated offseason. The quarterback situation in Nashville is clouded with uncertainty, as Will Levis was benched after a three-interception outing in Week 15 versus the Cincinnati Bengals, and Mason Rudolph clearly isn’t the answer either.
Due to their loss to the Colts on Sunday and events around the league in Week 16, the Titans now hold the No.4 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The team could possibly take a quarterback with that pick, but there’s no guarantee that Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders or Miami’s Cam Ward, the top-two signal callers in the draft, will be on the board by the time Tennessee is on the clock. The New York Giants own the No.1 overall pick and will likely take a quarterback.
The Patriots (Pick 2) and Jaguars (Pick 3) will likely pass on a signal caller, as New England has Drake Maye and Jacksonville has Trevor Lawrence on a lucrative contract, but a team like the Cleveland Browns (Pick 5) or Las Vegas Raiders (Pick 6) could trade up and leapfrog the Titans for a quarterback.
Also, AtoZ Sport’s Buck Reising reported on Monday that the Titans don’t have interest in the quarterbacks in the 2025 draft class. But ESPN’s Turron Davenport also reported on Tuesday that the Titans could select Shedeur Sanders if the Colorado signal caller is on the board when the franchise is on the clock in Round 1. I’d trust Turron on this one, lol.
Taking a quarterback is on the table for Tennessee in Round 1 (preferably Shedeur), but if the franchise decides to go in a different direction with the pick, Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter should be the selection, and here’s why!!
Carter has been dominant in 2024, as the junior has totaled 11 sacks and 56 quarterback pressures this season. Carter’s intriguing blend of speed and power makes him a matchup nightmare for any offensive tackle, and that was on full display during the Nittany Lions’ first-round playoff victory over SMU on Saturday.
What makes Carter’s play this season even more impressive is that the 2024 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year was a linebacker for most of his football career until this year, when he made the switch to edge rusher.
Though adding another explosive playmaker to the offense would be an exciting move from the Titans, the team desperately needs a game-changing edge rusher. Harold Landry is a good, not great player, and Arden Key is best used as a complementary pass rusher. Tennessee has totaled 20 quarterback pressures in just ONE GAME this season.
Abdul Carter has the talent to be one of the most dynamic pass rushers in the NFL and though taking a quarterback is the popular pick, Carter is a game wrecker who could be a Pro Bowler in his rookie campaign and perennial All-Pro in the future!!
